Loksatta rising: Party to fly blue kites in wards it is contesting

The Loksatta party today said it would fly blue kites in all the BBMP wards in which its candidates are contesting, as a highly visible sign of promise to the electors. Party candidates in Sunkenahalli, Jayamahal, Aramane Nagar, Vasanth Nagar, and Rajarajeswari Nagar would fly 30 kites each (roughly the number of polling booths in each ward).

"The action," said party candidate from Jayamahal Dr Bala Mani, "matches the rising support for our promise of clean and efficient governance in all the wards we are contesting. People should be able to see the kites above them and assure themselves that improvements in their wards are only a few days away. By their votes for Loksatta they can usher in a sea-change in the governance of the city."

Loksatta party candidates would also participate in candidate debates in all five wards next week, so that voters have a first-hand chance to hear their plains for their wards, and compare them against other candidates. The debates are being organised by Smart Vote, Citizen Matters, Namma Bengaluru Foundation, and will be held between 22 and 26 March 2010.
