Loksatta makes a beginning with 7% vote share in BBMP elections
05 April 2010

Loksatta party today thanked the voters of five wards which the party candidates contested for their active participation in the democratic process. Although the party candidates did not win any of the seats contested, the party expressed satisfaction that the presence of Loksatta candidates had forced other parties also to take the development issues seriously, and offer some answers to voters on important questions.

The party promised to continue this good beginning, and take its election agenda to subsequent elections in the city at various levels. Over the next two years, the party would implement its Ward Watchman program to work on the specific issues of each ward, and build a constituency of support for its advocacy and positions. "The seven per cent vote share that we gained in this election is a reminder to us that voters are willing to support good candidates, and that it is our responsibility to offer them this choice in all elections," said a party spokesman.

Loksatta candidates also promised to assist the winning corporators in their wards to achieve the development goals of their areas. The party's promise is to aid development, regardless of whether its candidates win, and this promise - made to the voters before the elections itself - would always be kept.
